Lunch out...

Sort of.

Burger Fi, our favorite burger place on the island had posted last month that they were "closed until further notice."  Understandable with the restrictions on non-essential travel that were in place at the time.  They are just far enough north on the island that they have less drive/walk by traffic as the places further south.  We hoped it would be a short closure.

For now, their website says they are now open Friday through Sunday for carry out or dine in.  I proposed we get lunch from there.  Joan said, "Let's do it, and take it to the beach."  She called ahead to place our order.

Traffic was typical summer, meaning: plenty of it.  When we got to Burger Fi, my jaw dropped... they appeared to be packed!  Their patio seating looked completely full from where I parked.  Joan put on a mask and went inside.  Seems that their "dine in" option was: you can eat out on their patio... no one eating inside.  Only one person in front of her, and that woman was taking a long time to place an order.

When Joan's turn came, she paid for it touchless with their app.  Our food had been ready.  Joan brought the food to the car, and we headed for the beach.  Plenty of traffic, we started out just snitching french fries along the way.  That escalated to digging into the burgers... I had mine almost done by the time we got to the beach park.

I found a place at the second parking area (the first was mostly full) with a view of the water.  Since they re-did the area, there are only a few parking spots where you can see the beach and water.  Warm and humid today, so the plan was always to dine in the air conditioned comfort of the car.

So, early on a Friday, it seems as though the weekend beach-goers are rolling in.  Weather for Saturday and Sunday is a forecast for a 50% chance of thunderstorms, so that may keep some people home.  For now, it is hazy sunshine... in that photo above, you can see the shadow from the umbrella over the benches... that gray(ish) looking sky is just haze... cuz it is humid.

The burgers?  Thanks for asking - just as good as always from Burger Fi; a nice change of pace.
