Tail of the Dragon - video done!

With all our chores done to get the coach ready to roll yesterday, I had some time to finish the editing and do a voice over audio track for the video I shot last week on Tail of the Dragon...

The video shows the riding along with some discussion about this infamous road.

This morning, we will get the utilities unhooked and put away on the coach, hitch up the cargo trailer, and start heading east.

--------

The plan: head out around 10:00.  The reality: we hit the road at 9:50.  We knew it would take us 5 to 6 hours to get to the campground we picked, with their check-in time of 2:00 pm and "gaining an hour," since we'll (happily) be on Central Time once again.  "Why happily?"  Thanks for asking - I mentioned it before, but I much prefer the local news to be on at 10:00 pm instead of 11:00 pm.

With a stop at Buc-ee's for fuel and snacks, and a Rest Area stop to give Murphy lunch (which he ignored) and let me do a walk-around to check tires, etc, we pulled into the campground at 1:58... even when not on a schedule, we tend to be punctual.  ;-)

Murphy was not happy that the motorhome moved and made noise.  He rode in the bedroom today.  I am told he will be riding up front with us tomorrow, but he was allowed to do whatever he wanted today.  No, I am not allowed to do whatever I want... but, I digress.

North to I-40, the head this thing west.  Still surrounded by hills and trees...

This is 55 mph Interstate, not the 75 to 80 mph we see in the "open areas."

It's a sign...

And hills (and trees)...

I mentioned that old saying "You can see the forest for the trees" in yesterday's Tail of the Dragon video.  It is a pretty area.

A small tree near our site in this evening's RV site...

Well, small by comparison to what we were under the last month.  And, glorious sunshine!

The furry boy is out and about now... eating the lunch he didn't touch earlier; looking out the window at the birds.  Yeah, this is better.  He'll get back in "travel mode" with the rest of us soon enough.

Nice video and commentary. I especially like the realistic view of "drive at the speed limit and it isn't a dangerous road". With luck Murphy will settle in to the moving RV mode again and you can all enjoy the trip.

Thanks, Earl. Tail of the Dragon was a fun ride, but has a certain notoriety with a lot of riders. Perspective. Joan's idea to let Murphy "find his place" on the first day out. Day 2, we will find the best place for him... it will include some lap time.
