Boat for sale...

Yes, our boat.  I listed it today on our local Facebook classifieds.  No, there is nothing wrong with either of us... Joan asked if I wanted to put the boat back in the water, and I had to think about it.  I may regret this on one of those gorgeous weather days when the dolphins are being especially playful, but I have decided the work/pleasure ratio is getting a bit close.

So, if you know anyone who is looking for a clean, small pontoon, I know a guy...

Here's the ad...

2016 SunTracker PB16 for sale. The "PB" stands for "Party Barge." Well, it would be a small party - Tracker Marine says it will hold 7, 4 is as many as we've had on it. This is a rare model - most of the 16s were Bass Buggys (fishing boats); this one is built for comfort, with 4 seating areas. It also includes a bimini, a boat cover, Mercury 40hp Command Thrust motor, Raymarine GPS/Fishfinder (depth, speed, water temp). Boat is kept in indoor storage when not at our dock (in Long Island Village). Approx 300 hours on the motor. Also includes a Tracker single axle trailer (only used to move the boat to and from our storage unit); bunk slicks on the trailer. The trailer has steps on the front to board the boat. Fresh bottom paint and new battery this year.

Price: $10,200. Message me here on Facebook for contact info (we live in LIV) and any questions you may have. Boat is owned by a retired professional boat captain and his admiral... this has been our personal sight-seeing platform to enjoy the dolphins, birds, and great views in this lovely area.

Already a number of inquiries, with it posted just a couple hours ago.

Jim, just to be sure you were not asking too much, I checked and you are well under the going price, no need to dicker on this one, best kept 16 in the fleet. So what comes next? Sell the place at the Tip? New RV and TOAD? I can hardly wait, this vicarious living following you two is saving me a fortune. Not too much fun but what I do get from reading your posts is worth $$$$$$$$$$$! See ya.

HI Bob - no plan to move or change out the motorhome. We have a time scheduled to take the motorhome back to the Winnebago factory in December to have all the repairs done. We are not tired of the Tropical Tip, just find less desire to put in all the work that is necessary to keep the boat up for the time we use it. No plan to replace the boat at this point. If it doesn't sell, I will probably put it back in the water at some point - right now it is in our storage unit.

The end of an era, like when we sold our airplane - and then later the motorcycles. This sounds like a good deal to me, but we are not in the market. GLWS (good luck with sale). And ditto what Bob said about living vicariously through your adventures. There is nothing quite like owing a boat / airplane / RV to make the rental rates look cheap.

We can rent a pontoon boat locally on a daily basis from the marina at Lucky Peak Reservoir, but so far have not done it in the 14 years that we've lived here. We've had the kayaks out a number of times but not lately. The pontoon boat rental remains a fond thought for summer afternoons but we have not "made it happen".

Hi Earl - in the words of the philosophers Guess Who: "seasons change and so do I." We were former boat owners for a couple years before getting the pontoon; I can be happy with that status again. Rental boats are available locally, but if I am needing some time with the dolphins, I can always toss a kayak in or buy a seat on one of the local dolphin watch operators.
