A trip down memory lane...

There was some discussion on the scooter forum where I spend too much time (like-minded people); it turned to places where the roads are great.  Probably due to me posting some ride reports from the Black Hills and a friend posting something from the Deal's Gap area in North Carolina/Tennessee.  And then a mention by another participant about riding in Yellowstone and the Tetons.

My reply...

It's all about the timing, the season, the weather... we worked one summer (?? the last snowfall was mid-June) in Yellowstone (who knew they had a cruiseboat) - great riding when the weather wasn't ugly...

That was in our "pre-scooting" days. I love that area, but the summer season is too short. One summer in the Tetons, we arrived in May for our jobs (I was driving a cruiseboat, Joan was the marina retail/activities manager), and they had to use a front end loader to clean the snow out of our RV site...

Joan's first day at work that year...

Yes, that is snow 3/4 of the way up on the store's front doors. Didn't look any better for my job...

We didn't get the cruiseboats in until mid-June that "summer." No, I don't miss the snow one stinkin' bit. Didn't get much riding in that season. Got boat work done...

It was early July before we got our second cruiseboat launched that summer (2011)...

July 7th before getting in a ride...

No, seriously, I don't miss the snow and cold.  Not one bit.

Last time I was in Yellowstone was about 40 years ago - my wife had never been and we only had a few days but drove from Seattle area to Bozeman, then the next day to West Yellowstone and in to the park. Gorgeous day and surprised how little traffic since Labor day weekend was 2 days away. Amazing park - took more pics that day then ever before. Our favorite portion outside of the park was the 50 miles approaching Jackson, Wyoming. Tetons are stunning. Stayed overnight then across Teton Pass and in to Idaho to head home. I would love to take the scooter through Yellowstone. I am also not a snow fan but would love to snowmobile through the park in the future.....as long as the day ended with a hot tub!! Safe travels to you as you head south.

Hi Greg - well, you know I am not a snow guy anymore, but Yellowstone in the snow is pretty spectacular. I am partial to the Tetons, and agree with you on that drive through that area... and, those beautiful mountains do look good with some snow on 'em.

Thanks for the good wishes - our best to you three, as well.
