Road Trip...

Not on the scooters.  Joan wanted to do the "Deadwood experience," which meant some gambling and perhaps even an adult beverage... so, no scoots.  Besides, the local weather weasel was calling for rain this afternoon.

It is getting pretty quiet in our part of the resort...

They will be closing this part of the resort on the 16th.  Since we signed on for another week, we will be moving to a different site on our original departure date, the 12th.

Joan also had a route she wanted to take to Deadwood... which would be more scenic and less direct... even though she tried to pawn it off as "the shortest route."  (62 miles vs 51 miles... no big deal)

On Highway 385, Mother Nature gave us a few drops of liquid sunshine...

By the time we got to Deadwood, the weather was looking decent (but, a bit chilly).  The plan: park the CR-V, then walk around, gamble a bit, have some lunch, then drive through Spearfish Canyon before heading for home.

On the door of a liquor store...

Looking around a bit...

It is "bus tour season" in Deadwood.  Some of the old building facades...

Joan found a couple machines she wanted to try...

We did not lose the homestead.  I broke even... pretty easy, because I didn't put any money in a machine or at a table.  ;-)  I did buy lunch for us, though.  Then, a drive through Lead and into Spearfish Canyon (and blue sky)...

No fall colors, yet, but the canyon is a nice drive and plenty scenic.

Heading for home, the sky got grayer as we headed south.  Pulling into Hart Ranch, the first of the sprinkles decorated the windshield.  Once in the motorhome, the rain hit.  Thunderstorm warnings and a tornado watch south of us.  Tomorrow looks to be rainy all day.  Good that we got out today.
