In a sea of Harley riders...

The Vespa rider is a rugged individualist.  ;-)

Our scooter outing for the day was all the way to Exit 55 off I-90, to "the Rally" at the mega Harley dealer.  Yes, we took our scoots.  A windy day, but both of these scoots have nice road manners.

Off the Interstate and waiting in traffic to get into the huge parking lot, that truly is a sea of Harleys.  As I was getting off my bike, a guy walking by said, "Wow - that is a great looking Vespa!"  Proof that Harley riders have good taste.  ;-)  Well, some of 'em.

The Rapid City Harley dealer (Black Hills Harley Davidson) calls this "The Rally at Exit 55"... to be honest about it, it is a big sales event, both for bikes and all kinds of stuff.  There are over 100 vendors, selling all manor of performance parts for Harleys, chrome for Harleys, custom seats for Harleys, LED lighting for Harleys, insurance for Harleys,  and all kinds of bike do-dads (like GoPro mounts) that will work on any bike.  Inside the dealer building, they have moved all the bikes out; the main thrust of this week is: T-shirts.  They also had a bunch of HD branded helmes; I was able to try on a couple, knowing that this model was made by HJC and this model was made by Bell.  Helpful on my quest for a new helmet.

We walked through the huge vendor area outside, as well.  Probably walked a couple miles to get through all the tents/booths.  The only thing we bought was a very overpriced lunch from one of the vendors.  Still, it was "entertainment" for the day.

As we were getting geared up to head out, a guy on a Harley pulled in next to Joan's bike and proceeded to drop the full dress bike, hitting Joan in the heel on the way over.  She says she is fine, and turned to help the guy get the bike back on its wheels.  He apologized a bunch.  A few inches closer, and she could have been seriously hurt.

On the way home, we took the long way around so we could have some fun riding through the twisties.  Rufus did get a couple walks in today, but he is not a fan of the wind.

I shot some video of the wandering about, and will try to get that edited and posted this evening.

--------

Going through the video, I came across a big ol' "Oops!"... after lunch, the camera was recording when I thought it was off and not recording when I thought it was.  Hand carrying the camera around, you can't see the screen and can't use the phone as a monitor.  So you may see some less than great cuts for the last minute or so.  Excrement occurs.  You still get the gist of all the vendors at this huge Harley dealer.
