Like we need a reason?

A gorgeous day!  The kind of day that makes typical gorgeous days jealous.  You know the saying: When the day gets gorgeous, the gorgeous go scooting.  Well, Joan is gorgeous and she lets me tag along.  I have said before that we have no great roads to ride; that hasn't changed.  So, we find reasons to ride... like: live to ride, ride to eat.

Heading out...

It was a bit cool when we left - just perfect with a jacket with a liner.  We stopped in Laguna Vista (yes, that means: view of the Laguna) so Joan could put her silk liners under her mesh gloves; nice view...

We rode our usual Ain'ta Mountain Road, enjoying that lovely smooth surface.  Sunshine.  No wind.  Heading generally towards Harlingen and our lunch stop...

If you're in Texas, is a Texas Roadhouse just a Roadhouse?  Does it matter that their corporate headquarters is in Kentucky?  Really, Kentucky Roadhouse doesn't have the same panache, does it?  The food was great - their steaks are as tender as any far more expensive steakhouses, and good service.  But, this isn't about the food - it's about the gorgeous day and the riding.  Did I mention the gorgeous day and the riding?

We stopped for gas before leaving Harlingen.  Yes, Joan's Yamaha kicked butt on my Vespa again: she got 82mpg, I got 74.5.  Mostly highway miles.

Enjoying the ride...

When we got back to our island, there was another tug with a couple barges going through; so, we wait...

You can see the barges in the waterway behind Joan.  Sure seems that there are more tugs pushing fuel barges these days.  That is another topic for another day.

Nice to be out and about today.
