Oh, there's still some stuff to be put away, but we are rolling!
Another hot day, with a hot wind that was mostly a tailwind. I drove tenderly - it has been 6 months since this motorhome has been on a trip longer than out of the storage unit to exercise the generator. She ran like a top. Rufus settled in quickly...
Snoozing on Joan's lap; not a bad way to travel. The traffic was light to start...
... but soon built to a steady pace. More traffic than I've seen on this stretch of road. Ever. Fortunately, not much in the way of Stupid Driver Tricks. Stopped at a rest area...
Yeah, that is all hooked together. At a fuel stop, a guy who had just filled up his truck pulling a travel trailer came over and said, "That is awesome! I thought my rig was long. I want to do something like that! I really want a motorhome."
I said, "They all get the job done. Your set-up looks comfortable."
"Yeah, but that is cool paint you have - and it all goes together. Do you have bikes in the trailer?"
"Yes, we do - heading to the Black Hills to do some fun riding."
"Awesome!"
One other out of the ordinary comment today: while going through the Border Patrol Checkpoint, the agent looked back towards our cargo trailer and asked, "Just you two in the train today."
I chuckled, "Yep, and a big furry cat."
"You drive careful and have fun wherever you're going."
So, that was an order from a government agent: we need to have fun.
After a day of driving, we'll be down for a couple nights. Maybe do a little running around with the car tomorrow. 95º as we got into our site. Once we had cable plugged in, a local weasel said the heat index is 105º. Yep, feels like it. Probably would have been better if the Border Patrol agent had said, "Be cool."
