Yeah, that is some "prize". You can debate whether that person won or lost.
Well, to be fair, the accordion is a big deal in this part of the world. Our house is an oasis from that, however. ;-)
I know a truly wonderful lady locally who made her living teaching piano and accordion for decades. However, recent chemo therapy caused major neuropathy in her hands and now she cannot play at all. I always enjoyed it when she joined in because she could play anything. But like banjo jokes accordions are an easy target. My best friend from high school had a little sister who was the All-Michigan accordion champ and went on to have a career in music therapy. I think she ended up teaching in the Phoenix school system, or thereabouts. She would be close to retirement by now.
