Waiting for workmen or a delivery, again? Not so much. We do have an installation for plantation shutters on our glass door, but that is supposed to happen late this afternoon... assuming they haven't forgotten about us (we scheduled the install a couple weeks ago, after they let us know a completion date).
Today, we were back in the garage - mounting a set of Rubbermade hanging shelves...
We have a couple other Rubbermade adjustable racks that we took out of the cargo trailer (more on those shortly) - this hanging shelf unit looks like it should have the same "snap on" standards. It doesn't. All those pieces had to be leveled and screwed in place. And attached to studs in the wall. It took about 3 times longer to get mounted than I expected.
The other racks went up in a few minutes each...
Same Rubbermade mounting system - and that's why the shelving unit surprised us. We mounted these racks high enough that neither of us will whack our head as we walk close by. The attachments are interchangeable, and clip on and off in a couple seconds. Yes, I did consider titling this post "Nice Rack," but... no.
The plantation shutter people were supposed to arrive "between noon and 4:00 pm." At 4:20, Joan called the company to make sure we are still on their schedule for today... "Um... they should be there is about 20 minutes."
Right.
We have one more thing to pick up at Lowe's - just got the text about 4:30. Today, Joan asked me if I really wanted that Craftsman tool storage/work bench. Yes, I do. She ordered it this morning. We will swing by there tomorrow morning and pick it up, since we're still waiting for the shutter installers.

And, the 3 guys to do the plantation shutter showed up. Nope - it doesn't fit. They would have literally tried to screw it to the Thermopane Glass in the door if we hadn't stopped them. When the people came out to measure for this (before we moved into the house), there was a LOT of discussion about how it would attach... they called the guy who owns the company that makes the shutter, took photos, and assured us they had it all figured out... amid saying "I've never seen a door like this before."
Joan called the company and told them we would not accept this. Not to mention that this custom-made shutter was already dinged up. She was told they would forward information that to "the company." And the fact that the box that enclosed the shutter stuck out about 6 inches from the door, and barely had enough clearance for the handle to swing (it goes up and down for the deadbolt mechanism to latch and seal).
They have our 50% deposit. I'm assuming they will be refunding that, since this is their screw-up. This same company is making a 4 panel electric roll-down shade for Steph and Dan's patio door. Hope their situation works out better than this.
So, now we'll go back to square one to find something to cover that glass door of ours.
