It was time for the second installment of making pizzas and breadsticks on Dan's pizza oven. Steph and Joan did the prep work...
I shuttled stuff back and forth, and Dan did the chef duties...
The pizza oven that makes this possible...
Each time gets better. Even the results from the last couple pizzas going in were better than the first ones. It is a learning process: while eating, we discuss what we can do better.
Joan and I tried an alfredo sauce pizza with chicken as one of ours - tasty! There was discussion about making a BBQ pizza with pulled pork, but we decided to do one as our family tradition: hamburger, pepperoni, and green olive... it's what Joan and I used to get when she worked at a real Italian pizza place when she was in high school.

Outstanding report Jim! So glad you and Joan are acclimating and getting to enjoy your family without the driving in traffic part. That pizza oven looks like a real winner. We purchased a Blackstone griddle that we take when we camp with our travel trailer. Absolutely makes some of the best meals and so much fun cooking outdoors, too, as I'm sure you'll agree.
Thanks, Patrick and Kim. Having our daughter and son-in-law next door was the reason for making this move... and so far, we all are enjoying it.
We have a Blackstone on our side - bought it after using Steph and Dan's a couple years ago. In our house, Joan does the inside cooking, I do the outside... and since getting the Blackstone, we cook out more often. Dan has been wanting a pizza oven - it has been fun watching him use it. Pizza is a family staple for us, so I'm glad to have a pizza chef in the family!
