Out and about...

Again.  We had some shopping, and some returning, to do today.  Since IKEA was part of that, we decided to head that way.  Go east, young man.  Um, old guy.

We did our returning first.  When we got to IKEA, there was only one person in front of us in their returns area.  Or so we thought.  You have to check in at their kiosk, give them your name and phone number, and they put you into their queue... and there were a half dozen people ahead of us.  But, they had some IKEA chairs and couches where you could wait.  And an electronic board so you could see where you were in your wait.  The idea behind this: so shop in their store and they'll text you when it's your turn.

The actual return didn't take long.  From there, it was on to lunch.  We were thinking Texas Roadhouse...most of them open for lunch on Fridays... not the one right across from IKEA... doesn't open until 3:00 on Fridays.  So, off to a nearby Olive Garden.  It didn't suck.  And I splurged on my "careful eating" and Joan and I split a Chocolate Mousse Pie Cake (cheesecake).  It was my favorite part of the meal.  Last time I had anything that was "real" chocolate was a couple bites at Joan's birthday.

Then, on to At Home...

It's been a couple years since we've been in one of these, and I knew we weren't getting out of there fast or inexpensively.  Actually, they had a good selection of Christmas stuff, and we picked up a few things... some Chrismas-y (a flocked, lighted tree for the front entryway and a doormat), and a couple pots for the yard...

Seems appropriate.  It is a huge home decor place, not just Christmas stuff.  This turned out to be our longest stop of the day.

From there, a stop at the Guitar Center that is close to IKEA.  No, I don't need another guitar, but I wanted to pick up a foot tambourine (it "jangles" when you tap your foot) for when I get together with Mark and the MIM guys.  Mark bought a cajon after seeing mine - it gives us some percussion when 5 guitars is more than we need.  Well, 4 guitars and a bass.  And for full disclosure, I did take a look in their acoustic guitar room... didn't see anything I needed.

And then to Fry's - we stopped at a nice one in the Chandler area, on our way home.  Joan had a list, and we found everything on that list.  For those not familiar, Fry's is part of the Kroger chain.  Today was "4 times fuel bonus day"... which means we're going to have another $1 per gallon off next time we need gas.

It was just about 4:00 by the time we got home.  Busy day.

I got a text this morning - the pergola is supposed to be installed on Monday.  Stuff to be addressed from our "30 day punch list" will be happening next week, too.  Pretty sure this is never going to end.  Yes, I'm kidding.  Maybe another couple months... or more.  Probably more.  All that said, the house is starting to feel like home.

As usual, I'm glad that progress is being made and settling in is happening. I like Fry's -- it is our main grocery stop when in the area. Alice usually stays in hotels and stocks her room refrigerator so she doesn't have to eat out all the time during visits to mom in Sun City. I like Fry's better than the Fred Meyer stores (also Kroger-owned) that we have around here.

Tasha is a lovely kitty, for sure.

Hi Earl. Just when we think we're almost done with house stuff... well, you know. Not much on the 30 day punch list, it just can't all be done in one day. A half dozen things, nothing major, but another half dozen days while we deal with waiting for workers to show up. I guess I should be happy that they're taking care of things, huh?

The only down side of shopping in different stores: they aren't all laid out the same. We do get our steps in, though. ;-)

Tasha's Mother was a show cat. Stephanie was allowed to pick between the 2 females in that litter, and the breeder said she'd show the other one. I've seen photos - Tasha is the prettier of the two. She is definitely "the Queen" and very much an alpha female. I had to laugh when Joan told her "No!"... and she still did what she wanted.

We enjoy their 3 cats; still really miss the exceptional personality of our big furry boy.
