You may be right...

I may be crazy.  But, it just may be a lunatic you're looking for.

If you said, "Billy Joel, 1980, from the album Glass Houses," you get 20 bonus points.  If you were at the concert last night at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix, you get another 200 bonus point.

The concert was a double bill: Stevie Nicks and Billy Joel.  Another advantage of living in a big city.  The 4 of us drove to a place in uptown Phoenix where we caught the Light Rail, which dropped us off right in front of Chase Field...

Parking in downtown anywhere near the stadium would have been outrageously expensive (also a Suns game happening at the same time).  This was a good way around the traffic congestion and expense - $4 each for a 24 hour Light Rail Pass.

Once in the stadium, we swung by one of the many places selling T-shirts and picked up a memento of the event.  I didn't have "sticker shock" from the price of a shirt, since Steph had prepared us.  We went to check out our seats, then back inside for some pricey stadium food.  The tables and chairs were all occupied, but we did find a sitting group of chairs so we could sit and eat.  Then, back to our seats...

Yes, the roof was open (above) - it makes for a different atmosphere.  The obligatory 4 of us selfie...

Steph warned us that "Concerts here always start late."  Joan told her "The info on the concert says: 'Will start promptly at 7:00 pm'."  Stevie Nicks kicked things of, starting around 7:20...

Our seats would have been upclose and personal... if this had been a Diamondbacks game: we were in the first level up, behind the dugout.  So, not close, but the huge screens gives every seat a decent view.  Stevie Nicks put on a great concert - Billy Joel joined her for one song about 4 songs in.  Looking at the people in the audience, it seems about every 4th woman was wearing a bat-sleeve blouse, so Nicks has her crowd base.  She played her hits, some Fleetwood Mac songs, and a few (mostly Top Petty) covers.

I thought it would morph into Billy Joel's band taking the stage - I was wrong.  There was about a half hour break where they reset the stage for Billy Joel.  The crowd roared when Joel and band took the stage.  We saw Billy Joel in 2019 here at Chase Field during his "baseball stadium tour"... he still has his chops, and every member of his band is an outstanding musician.  They put on an impressive show, with most of the band members being featured on unexpected songs, from Tina Turner to opera.  Joel has an affable manner, which makes him seem "New York friendly."  It was a great night...

The crowd sang along as he cranked out some of his hits.  Fun experience.

Back for a 3 song encore, ending with You May Be Right...

While the crowd chanted "More! More! One more song!" we made our way out of the stadium.  Bypassing the escalator for the stairs, we were ahead of much of the crowd.  We walked several blocks to a Light Rail stop, got on a very crowded train with no wait...

Back to the car around midnight, home before 12:30, after a detour around a closed intersection (accident) about a mile from home.  In all, good timing on our parts.  It was nice to have Steph and Dan guide us on getting the Light Rail and knowing where to park (for free).  A late night for us, but a musical treat... that we bought tickets for this past winter (before we decided to move here).
