Yes, that is something Joan said to me this morning.
We took today as a "chill day," staying put. We're in a nice RV resort. Reasonably heavy rain last night, still a light rain this morning. I was hoping to get Murphy out for a walk in the grass (yes, real grass), but it is going to have to dry up a lot before that happens.
The "chill day" wasn't because of my tumble - we had plenty of time built into our 2,000 mile drive to North Carolina, expecting to spend an extra day off the road here and there. The new doctor I have in Phoenix scheduled today for a "tele-med" visit (that's a phone call instead of an in-person visit) after the blood tests they ran. I had already printed out the results from their portal that accesses my records, so there were no surprises. Well, one surprise: he called two hours earlier than what they scheduled. With us just hanging out, it was no inconvenience that he called earlier.
The gist of the conversation: I am normal. Joan may take exception with that diagnosis. Well, all my tests are within a normal range. Except my cholesterol is low (it has always been low) - I couldn't get him to prescribe more bacon. Joan listened in during the conversation, then after I hung up, she said what you see in the title. Nice.
On an unrelated medical bit of information, my aches and pains are better today. I can bend my big toes. the scrapes and gouges are scabbed over, so no raw meat showing. Murphy does, however, seem to like to flick his tail right into the middle of the worst gouge... I'm taking that as his way of showing me that he cares.
Speaking of Murphy: this park we're in doesn't allow fireworks, but the property all around us apparently has no such restrictions - the pops and explosions were loud last night, starting at 9:20. I went outside to look around and could see aerial displays going off just beyond the trees at the edge of this property. Murphy handed it fine; he was curious, but didn't seem frightened by any of it. Fortunately, it started sprinkling about 11:00, which quickly quieted things down. And then the rain. And more curiosity on Murph's part - I think he wanted to get under the window shades to see what was happening out there... he is a desert cat, so this rain is kinda new to him... especially when it is hitting the roof of the motorhome. I can't speak for him, but I think I will need a nap this afternoon.
And speaking of the rain: there were a lot of weather alerts on TV last night (it is Oklahoma). I had to look it up to see what county we are in. Plenty of discussion about strong wind and hail, but none of that was close to us, fortunately.
Looking at the miles, we are about half way to our destination. So there will likely be another chill day or two in our travels. I'm good with that.
Joan and I have had time for discussion while traveling this trip. Looking ahead at how we want to continue to travel, there may be changes. We'll see how things play out as we get on down the road.
--------
Murphy got out for a walk today. He was a little unsure right at first, since he hasn't had to be on a leash in months. I am patient and we proceed slow, letting him set the pace...
To start out, we spent some time at the picnic table, just letting him look around. I carried him a ways from the motorhome, and he didn't try to run back - he looked around, taking it all in. This is almost like starting over, but Murphy is handling it fine. Joan came out with us for a bit, to see how we were doing. I thought he might want to follow her back to the coach, but he hung right in there. When we did come back to the coach, he said, "This thing looks a lot bigger from down here."
--------Looking at the miles to go and the days we have to cover those miles, we made an itinerary and booked RV parks along the rest of the way. At one where we plan to stay for two nights, we got the last available site. And, it puts us into our destination park a day early; the nice lady there added that extra day to our stay.
We started this trip being serendipitous, booking something on the same day. It worked out for us. Now that we're getting close, we wanted to firm everything up. I like it when a plan works out. :-)
