Getting rusty on frustration...

Why else would I go to a "Coffee with the Directors" meeting?  I didn't see anyone having coffee, but with the socially distanced chairs, the Event Center was pretty full...

It probably should have been called "Bitchin' at the Directors"... a lot of owners are fed up with Security not following through on all the ignoring of the rules.  Like young kids driving golf carts, loud music being played in common areas like the pool, people in the pool without the required wristbands, more people than allowed at a site, people parking in sites that are unoccupied (going to happen when you 15 people when the rules state no more than 8).  Yeah, all the same stuff I've been talking about already.

The Secretary read a bunch of things that were in the suggestion box - it pretty much came down to: security not being enforced, complaints about the lawn mowing service, and complaints about the garbage compactor that hasn't been brought into service, yet.  Other individual requests: When can we have Bingo again?  And Bunko.  Since the shutdown due to the pandemic, activities here have been slow to come back.

Being on the Board of Directors is a thankless job... of course, they all run for the position by telling how they are going to make our village an even better place to live... and few of them actually follow up on that promise.  Trying to make over 1,000 site owners (some own multiple sites) happy is tough when you have a diverse population, but it really comes down to "the summer people" who have a second home here and come to get away from daily life in the Valley.  These are mostly the ones who let their kids run wild, play music louder than it needs to be, and are opposed to any rules they think are restrictive.  Then, there are "the winter people": those who own a place here to get away from the frozen northland in the winter months.  They are quieter, older, and have no idea what goes on here in the summer.  They may be just as dangerous as the kids on golf carts after a few (or a lot) of drinks at happy hour.  And then there are the "we live here year round" people.  Like us.

Life in a resort has some advantages and disadvantages.  Inconsiderate people, regardless of the time of the year they are here, is the downside.  All the amenities and the fact that the management takes care of things like lawn mowing are the upside.  Security, when they do their job, is nice.  It is a gated community.  A dock right out our back door.

When I got back from that meeting, I started working on recording some music.  Nothing in a finished state, yet, but more tracks sent to Mark.  That should keep him busy for a while.  ;-)  Enough vocals to leave me a bit hoarse.

Heat advisory again, due to the high humidity.  I did make sure Rufus got some outside time today.

We visited with Steph during a break in the music making.  She has been asked by her school district to prepare a hybrid teaching format for her grade level, which means a combination of limited time in the classroom and at home learning on-line.  There has been discussion of using school buses with wifi transmitters to go into neighborhoods where families don't have internet access.  There is also a plan for full on-line learning... nothing in the plans for everyone back to school.  It is going to be a different school experience in the near term.  And maybe much longer.

We were proud that the district appreciates what she brings.  And, Dan was asked to do the same for the 7th grade ELA for the district.  The school board is going to have some big decisions to make, and very soon.  Changes, and both Steph and Dan are ready to roll with 'em.
