The timing is conspiring against us. We got a call from Steph last night, and there will be a change of plans: due to the rapid upsurge in Covid in the Phoenix area, it looks like we will be postponing our trip there... pushing things back.
This may give Winnebago time to actually get the fenders and hood (that should have been ordered a lot time ago) in their hands, get them painted and replaced. I will visit with them again tomorrow; the service rep we have been dealing with should be back from vacation tomorrow, and I won't have to try to get anything done with guy filling in (whose normal job is estimating and working with the insurance companies). This fill-in guy has proven to be less than reliable in following through on what he says.
And the beat goes on.

Sorry to hear it. At this point it also looks unlikely that we will be traveling to AZ to visit mom any time soon, but she is stable and happy.
Alice goes to Aloha Music Camp from March 31 - April 11. Since I won't fly anymore, I will be pining for her and that great time on Kauai. (Our best vacations *ever* have been Aloha Music Camp and diving from the Kona Aggressor). But someone has to stay home and take care of the "kids". We hope to have reached kitty detente by then, or else I will have my hands really full herding lonely cats. it is easier with two cats / two people.
Hi Earl. Going to Hawaii each year was an annual escape for us when we lived in the frozen northland. There are times I miss the islands, but this recent trip back to the Tropical Tip after dropping off the motorhome was plenty enough commercial flying for me.
It's a shame that you won't be doing the Aloha Music Camp with Alice, but I understand the circumstances. Speaking of "kitty detente," any progress with Lucy and Duke? Do you two take turns with each of the cats so they don't establish a "favorite human"?
I will miss Aloha Camp badly, as it was always my favorite vacation (other than live-aboard scuba diving). I've been three times to study slack-key guitar an ukulele. But my unwillingness to fly won't stop Alice from having a vacation. She is traveling with a good friend from Aloha Camp who lives in Seattle. They meet on the SEA-HON flight segment and sit together, then travel back together. Alice needs to pick up her bass flute after its "annual inspection" near SEATAC anyway once she gets back, so the timing all worked out. (You don't want to ship such a delicate instrument just after a major tune-up).
As for cats, we are still working on acceptance. Duke is a big friendly guy that reminds me of Rufus quite a bit, and Alice is totally in love. Lucy is still hesitant about the intruder. We keep them isolated except for a few brief visual interactions through a baby gate. Then as soon as the yowling starts, we remove them again. We trade off spending time with them in isolated parts of the house so no one feels neglected or imprisoned. It will be a good day when we no longer have to close doors and both kitties can have free run of the whole house all the time. You know how cats loathe closed doors. Cat herding indeed.
The odd part is that Duke did not like it at all when we played music together. I don't think he's ever heard live music before and went through the house crying. Quiet solo finger style seems to be OK if I'm not in the same room with him, or he is on Alice's lap. But singing out loud with guitar and flute was too much for him. A critic?
