Officially for sale...

Today was the day: I listed the Vespa for sale on Craigslist, Offer Up, and Facebook Marketplace.  Here's the info, if you know anyone looking for a lovely Vespa...

--------

2020 Vespa GTS 300 HPE for sale.  Adult ridden, bike is in excellent shape.  4,400 miles.  Color is Blu Energia.  Always kept inside when not being ridden.  Extras include: Vespa rear rack, Givi top case (trunk) 37L with a color match panel - holds a full face helmet plus more, Givi mid-height windshield with a Laminar Lip deflector, USB double connection in left knee pad (to power your devices), Kubler Speed Ring which makes the speedometer more accurate (and I’m told will up the top speed to 85mph - I had it to 75 once to see, and that is more than fast enough on a scooter).  This model has ABS brakes and traction control.  Bike is for sale because the owner (a long time rider) has gone back to a motorcycle after 9 fun years of riding scooters.  The Vespa GTS is a beautiful design - this bike gets compliments at stoplights and gas stations all the time.  Miles per gallon has ranged from a low of 64 to a high of 92, depending on terrain, speed, and wind.  Great for getting around town, even more fun out in the twisties.

Owner is from Texas, our bikes travel with us in a cargo trailer (our “portable garage” when we’re on the road); we are in the Phoenix area for about two weeks.  It if hasn’t sold before we head back to Texas, it will come home with us.  You can buy a new one for $7200 (before adding all the extras on this bike) plus another 2 grand in fees and taxes (if you can find one).  The price on this one is $6,500 (including all those necessary extras).  No test rides until you put cash in my hand.  Clear title.  Reply to the e-mail through this ad with your phone # and I will return your call.  Bike is in the Goodyear area.

--------

There are two other Vespa GTS 300s that we could find for sale in the area, one is the same year HPE, the other is a year older and not the HPE engine.  Both are priced significantly higher than mine.  No, I'm not giving it away, but I did price it to move.  We'll see if there are any savvy buyers here in the desert.

On Facebook Marketplace, the ad seems to "come and go": one minute it is listed as available, the next it is listed as sold.  No, it is not sold - the ad has only been up an hour or so.

GLWS (good luck with sale). I'm not really surprised that the Vespa is moving on and the new bike is the keeper, just reading between the lines. And it's good to hear that Rufus' episode of being under the weather is over. He's a good boy, you know.

We have been putting Duke in his jacket and walking him around the yard and the house twice a day. He is OK for about an hour, but when he gets tired or over-excited he still goes from mellow fellow to chainsaw mode in about two seconds. He is now pretty familiar with the back yard and knows where the front door and the back patio door are, and that treats await inside. When Lucy was out too yesterday (she can always come and go at will via her cat flap) he kept trying to approach her fairly aggressively, but a few tugs on the leash kept them 8 feet apart or more. They both were on alert but would quickly settle down into relaxed body language. He just needs to learn that she needs her space and not to encroach on her comfort zone. Progress, while slow, is being made. Alice leaves for Hawaii on Thursday, so we'll all have to get along for ten days without her.

Hi Earl - I still think the Vespa is an absolute delight to ride around. And, at one point a few years ago, the previous Vespa was my best option. I could have moved on earlier, but didn't feel the need. Once I got the consideration of DCT technology stuck in my head, I had more interest in seeing what else would be a good fit for me. While the Vespa is the clear winner for ease, the CTX is my choice for comfort and power.

Glad to hear that Duke is getting used to his walking jacket. An hour is a long time for a cat to be walking. Rufus is good for 20 to 30 minutes, and he knows a treat awaits when we get home. Nice if you can keep Duke on the leash and let Lucy walk about in the yard so they can be around each other with no physical barrier.

Will I need to do a "wellness check" on you each day while Alice is in Hawaii? Just to make sure the cats have not taken you down? ;-)

An hour IS quite a long time, but we let him go at it as long as he wants. And like your walks with Rufus, a lot of time is spent laying down and scanning. It's boring for dad to stand there, but I have now positioned lawn chairs in several key areas around the yard so that I'm not standing the whole time.

As for wellness checks, I'll try to comment regularly here so you know that we are all OK. It will be a hectic ten days for me, trying to be properly attentive "staff" while solo for two kitties - I'll be outnumbered. Alice is busy this morning packing and re-packing. She is getting excited. Good for her.....

Ah, positioning lawn chairs - now there's a good idea for the one at the other end of the leash. When we're out in the motorhome, Rufus has his own chair so he can sit and look around.

Tell Alice that I am excited for her - the music camp sounds like fun. Well, more relaxing than cat herding. ;-)

The two best vacation agendas we've ever had were Aloha Music Camp and week long live-aboard scuba diving on the Kona Aggressor (80' catamaran). Aloha Camp is "eat-sleep-play Hawaiian music, repeat" and the Aggressor is "eat-sleep-dive, repeat". We've done both several times, and the ultimate would be back-to-back - a week of diving followed by a week of music camp while decompressing from those 25 dives.

I will terribly miss being at AMC. But it is only Monday now and I would already have spent the weekend dreading the upcoming airline flight.

I'm with you, Earl. It is all about the rewards vs the dreading. Or, perhaps: kitty tending vs cramming yourself into an airline seat? ;-)
