Will it fit?

The CTX isn't a lot bigger than Joan's Xmax, so it should fit in the trailer fine, right?  Well, it is a lot bigger than the Vespa.  With the Vespa sold, we now have to figure how to best configure the trailer for the two bikes.  We did a lot of measuring and bike moving: mine on this side, yours on that side... um, yours on this side, mine on that side... let's try one bike further forward, the other one staggered back a bit further.

The last time I bolted down the frames that hold the wheel chocks, it was for a pair of Honda PCX scooters.  We moved things around when it changed to a Vespa and a PCX... and then a Vespa and an Xmax.  The Vespa has a shorter wheelbase, so it was easy to stagger bikes in the trailer so the handlebars and mirrors weren't "mixing it up."  That became the challenge: getting the right position so the bikes are far enough into the trailer to get the ramp door closed (yeah, that's kind of important), but still keeping them back far enough to have access to the rack across the front of the trailer... and keep the mirrors and handlebars from hitting each other.

We had to remove one side with the chocks/frame to move it far enough forward.  More measuring and marking and we're ready to bolt things in place.  Tomorrow.  All that's left is some drilling and through-bolting.  The side where the CTX will go stays intack - that was originally where we had the V-Strom (before the scooters).

The top case will have to come off the CTX; it was close but just won't quite fit.  We used to move the top case from my Vespa to the Xmax when trailering; we'll be doing the same with this pairing.  On the bright side: they're both going to fit in there.  Just.  😌
