Steph and Dan went to the house today, but not a lot of changes. The gravel that made its appearance in the driveway last week is still there (no front yard landscaping, yet)...
Dan's car making an appearance...
A gate on the "close side"...
Rain gutters...
And a barn door...
"A barn door?" you ask. Yes, and thanks for asking. No, we don't have a barn. And in spite of what you might have heard, I was not born in a barn. That's the door to the closet in our bedroom; I don't know why a sliding barn door, but that's what the design calls for.
We won't be raising any livestock. That I know of.

Looking good. Barn doors are all the design rage right now. I encounter them on conference rooms in offices these days, and then they complain about the lack of privacy. Duh….
Rufus likes his current home because you are there, but he’ll like AZ too. Hope there is some grass for him in the area. He’s a good boy, you know. Most neighborhoods have a grassy patch for flash floods and overflow.
My buddy Rick has called dibs on the “extra” X20 after playing it yesterday. He bought my X30 earlier this year. While he still likes that big guitar, the X20 is easier to handle. In some ways I like the 2021 version better than my 2016 version, but it isn’t night and day. Not all “improvements” are. So I’ll keep green and sell amber when he comes up with the cash. No hurry.
I guess I'm not big on being part of the latest design rage... I see that sliding barn door as making wall space where I can't put anything on it. ;-) That's OK - there will be a music room that will accommodate those desires.
Yes, Rufus is happy where we are. Joan has done the "cat grass in a cup" thing for him before when we've been traveling; I know we'll come up with something to keep the furry boy content. One RV park we've stayed at a few times has Astro-turf between the sites - Rufus is always surprised by that when we walk: "Hey, this isn't real grass!" That kind of turf is the only thing I'd consider in AZ, other than a box or some kind of container where Ruf can have his own grass.
Your buddy Rick has good taste. None of my Emeralds have the "new and improved" pinless bridge... I'm OK with that. I know you appreciate the "Emerald green." Any plans to fill that slot when Rick picks up the X20?
Nope. Downsizing all the way from here forward. I’d still like to sell the “extra” X7 woody v2, and maybe the Maui built “extra” Rainsong WS. It’s been weird circumstance that we ended up with duplicates. There really is nothing out there that I really want anymore. All my bases are covered so I am blessed. The traded Blackbird went for this X20, and when it sells to Rick, I’ll be down by one more.
I don’t have any issue with the pinless bridge, if you use the golf tee, bridge pin, or chopstick trick to anchor while snugging up the string. I’m not wild about the new fretboard texture versus the old polished black surface though. Some of my finger style pieces have some movement and the texture slows me down and affects accuracy.
Hi Earl. It is nice to get to that point of being content. Or, so I've heard. ;-) Kidding, of course. I wasn't really thinking about another guitar, and then that Emerald 25th Anniversary Sale came up. I am really enjoying the Virtuo. It will be even better when we get moved into the new place and I can have my gear all set up.
I think it is my old fingers that slows me down and affects accuracy. My new goal is to survive this move. Take care!
