Rufus...

He's a good boy.  I got a few photos while we were out on our evening walk last night...

He had a tough morning: it started with me stepping on something while starting my morning routine.  Something?  Yeah, thanks for asking.  TMI warning!  There is a consequence for having all that luxurious fur... when the poop situation doesn't go normally, there is some "clean up" involved.  What I stepped on was a tarry cold turd.  A quick check revealed he had some stuck to his fur.  There are cat wipes for that, but this was going to take more... I took him for a walk while Joan got plastic dishpans of soapy and clear water ready outside.

Unlike some cats, water doesn't bother him.  He was a good boy while I held him and Joan (wearing rubber gloves) soaped and rinsed his furry bottom.  And tail.

It is a warm morning, so we sat outside while he dried off.  Then Joan (preferring to work solo) gave him a thorough brushing.  He tolerates that well, too... I think he knows we have his best interests at heart.

Then off for a bicycle ride for me, while Joan soaped and hosed off the carpet runner from inside the coach (indoor/outdoor - it is made to be hosed).

Not many empty sites at Hart Ranch for this holiday weekend.  The "amateurs" are everywhere.  Sixteen people around an older travel trailer.  Kids on bicycles not looking before maneuvering on the street.  People driving golf carts with small kids in back not strapped in.  Dogs not on leashes.  Fortunately, we are on the far edge of the park (our preference) so it is a bit quieter than the sites closer to the pool and activity centers.

It will be busy like this until Monday evening.  Hart Ranch has a music festival going on, with bands playing today and tomorrow.  It is going to be in the upper 90s today, so the pool will be packed.  This will be the last hurrah of summer before things quiet down here again.

And in another week, we'll be packing up to head south.  In six weeks, we'll be in Phoenix.  Whew!
