A run to the jetties...

Blasting around with the boat, running more engine cleaner through.  A couple stalls today, but it sounds like it is running stronger and smoother.  May be wishful thinking.

When I went out to get the boat ready, this big fella was sitting on our neighbor's boat lift...

"Out and around" was the plan: out the canals and around the west side of our island to then head east in the ship channel.

We saw some dolphins, but wanted to get out to the jetties.  Along the way, this...

The green "can" on the right is a temporary marker - looks like someone hit the daymark (on the left).

Out to the jetties, we slowed down to look at our friendly marine mammals...

They were all around "the point" - the southwest tip of South Padre Island; when the tide is coming in, there is a good rip at the point, bringing in fish for the dolphins.  Yes, we see your cute dolphin teeth...

They get more playful when their bellies are full...

This one swam right up beside our boat...

A Coast Guard helicopter went by...

And, this landing craft came in from the Gulf...

We cruised out into the jetties a ways.  Looking north, across the jetties, and onto South Padre Island...

This shrimper was heading out - we thought we might get a show with some bow surfing...

... but, no.

Some dolphin faces...

Heading for home, we ran at speed in the ship channel - the boat ran fine.  Before making the turn into the Port Isabel Channel, we stopped to watch some more dolphins...

Nice jump!

This one rolled over, showed us some belly, and waved good-bye with the pectoral fin...

A beautiful day out and about.  There are forecasts for a couple fronts arriving: one tomorrow morning, then another on Monday.  There may not be any boating for a while - this day will keep us happy for a while.
