Norther, Part 2...

We went out for BBQ for a late lunch.  Porky's, here in town, has some of the best BBQ around.  The next front is blowing in... our mid-60s temperatures and light wind is changing: the temp is on the way down, the wind is on the way up.  4:00pm, the temp is down 5º and the wind is now blowing at 34mph, gusting to 40.

The weather weasels are saying, "Winter is here."  That's relative, of course.  Winters are pretty mild here.  Generally.  We have already seen several northers blow in during the past month.  I need to talk to someone about this whole "global warming" thing, 'cause apparently Mother Nature didn't get that message.

Oh, sure, it was warmer than usual for much of October.  Well, except for when it wasn't, and then it was colder than usual.  I need to talk to someone about "usual," too, I guess, because we have had very few of those lovely upper 70s days.  You know, the ones with blue sky and light breeze?  Perfect days for being out and about on the scoots?  Yeah, I remember the scoots.  Or, for a leisurely cruise on the boat.  The boat?  Yeah, it's that thing that has been tied to the dock for the past 5 days... under its cover... with extra dock lines.  Having a boat is fun - it gives you something to do when the weather is crap: you get to check on it... in the wind and rain... to be sure it hasn't blown down the canal... which is nice.

I'm kidding.  It's the cabin fever.  And it is going to be a few days before this fever breaks.  Yes, it could be worse: there could be something to shovel!

Here's a prediction from the Old Farmer's Almanac...

Warm and dry for Texas?  I don't think so.
