The Full Beaver Moon...

It didn't look like this...

It did, however, look like this...

The full moon actually occurred on Black Friday, but it was last night that we had a clear enough sky to see it.  November's full moon is called the Full Beaver Moon, as it was a sign for Native Americans and early settlers to set their beaver traps before the swamps froze so they'd have the furs to keep warm

From the Old Farmer's Almanac:

Moon Facts

  • Did you know: The spin-time of the Moon on its own axis is identical to the time it takes the Moon to revolve around Earth, which is why the Moon always keeps almost exactly the same face toward us.
  • How much would you weigh on the Moon? Just multiply your weight (it doesn’t matter if it’s in pounds or kilograms) by 0.165. You’d weigh about 80 percent less!
I enjoy getting a photo of the full moon (when you can see it) - to get the detail in the exposure, you have to shoot on manual.  Nice thing with digital: you can see right away if your exposure is right, and make the necessary changes to shutter speed and f/stop.
