Again. We've been hailed on several times since we've been here. Mostly, it has been pea size, maybe up to marble size. The weather guy on the local NBC affiliate warned of "ping pong ball size hail in several counties around the Black Hills region..." Yes, we are in one of those counties.
We had the slides pulled in earlier today, then put them back out again this evening when the sky cleared and there was nothing else on radar for the next 8 hours. Yep, that changed. Two strong thunderstorms with "damaging size hail" are on converging paths coming this way. About 9:30 this evening, we pulled the slides in again. The rain started shortly after 10:00, with 20 minutes of hail in the middle of it.
With the patio light on we could see that the hail was bigger than the last couple of storms. Enough to cause damage to our car and coach? It's still raining too hard to go out and check. It was loud inside the motorhome - Rufus was very scared again. I was feeling more dread than afraid... I really don't want to go through all that insurance and repair stuff again.
But, we'll have to wait for this storm and the next one that looks like it will roll through about 2:00 am before we can check. As of just before 11:00 pm, our overhead vents and the skylight are intact. And looking at radar, there is more of this storm that will be moving over us. Plenty of rain and lightning.

I wrote the above around 11:00 last night. I went outside with a flashlight around midnight and didn't see any damage. The next storm moved through around 1:00 am, with no hail, just pounding rain.
And in the light of day... no damage. I expected a few dings, so relief. I'm going to need a nap today.
