Variable...

The wind.  The weasels were calling for strong wind (20+ mph) out of the WSW.  While the direction varied all over the place, it was mostly out of the southeast, making for a quartering headwind for us as we headed east.

We were rolling at 8:00 this morning; looking into the sun...

The humidity was 16% when we got up this morning.  It wasn't until around mile marker 350 that we could feel the humidity increasing.  I like some humidity... especially after a couple months in the desert.

Just making miles again today.  Some shades of green looking out at the high desert of west Texas...

Around the same time that we could feel some welcome humidity, we started seeing the wildflowers in the median and along the sides of the road; Blue Bonnets...

About those winds...

You can see by the flag on that hill that it is a crosswind in that area.

And, the reason most folks read here: Rufus!  Joan is telling him how handsome he is...

Belly rubs...

Neck rub...

And in the photo above, starting to nod off.  With the traveling, he hasn't gotten in his usual morning nap.  Or, his early afternoon nap.  Nor the late afternoon nap.  Or, the early evening nap.  Seems that he has settled into our travel routine as of today (he is napping beside me as a post this)... and in a couple days, we'll be home again.

We are in an RV park on the North Llano River.  We have stayed here before, so we knew what to expect.  For less money than that KOA in western New Mexico, we have a level, spacious site (didn't have to unhook to fit on the site)...

That green stuff?  That is grass.  The area where the RV is parked is gravel, but there is grass and a nice covered patio.  Nice lady when we called ahead to make sure they had a site for us.  She was just about to show another couple to their site when we pulled in.  She had everything ready for us, I told her we could get ourselves to the site, and she handed me the check-in paperwork in an envelope with our name on it.  Fast and efficient.

Oh, and look at this:

The utilities pedestal is right where it belongs: close to where you hook the stuff up on your RV.  No, I don't know why every RV park (and I'm talking to you, KOA in Lordsburg) doesn't do this

One more bit of weather: a chance of precip in the San Antonio, so we stopped 100 miles or so before SA.  There wasn't supposed to be any precip along our route.  Hardly any... never had to use the windshield wipers - just enough to insure that the dirt blowing in the air will stick to our rig.

On the bright side, we won't need heat tonight.  But, it is going to be plenty warm for our drive through SA tomorrow.

What are the odds?

About 6:30 this evening, there was a knock at the door... friends Mike and MJ are in this same park!  Seriously, we could not have planned this: they are heading north, leaving the Tropical Tip; we are heading for home.  There house is on the next canal over from ours.  It was like old home week!  Well, for an hour or so.  We both had driving days, and more of the same tomorrow.  But, it was great to see our friends!

I didn't have my phone or camera with me when we went over to their coach, so I got this photo of their rig after we came back to ours...

Hugs and good wishes for safe travels all around!

This view from today...

It reminds me: it's almost bikini season.  :-)
