It happens once a year or so...

Birthdays.  Good or bad, if you get to have one each year, it's a good thing.  Happy Birthday to my Honey.  Enjoy your "season."

--------

We took the PCX to Brownsville this morning to get the new front tire installed.  They open at 9:00, we were there at 8:55.  Dustin (the mechanic/salesman/parts guy/etc went to work on it right away.  The ride over was fairly benign... I am not a fan of riding two wheels on Hwy 48, which used to be considered "the most dangerous road in Texas."  Since that time, they have widened it to 4 lanes, put a concrete divider on most of it, and raised the speed limit (now 65 - 75).  It is pretty much the only direct way from Brownsville (or Mexico) to South Padre Island.  Fortunately, there wasn't much traffic and the wind was light.

We waited while the tires was being installed.  Looking around...

Dustin had the tire installed in about 45 minutes,  By then, the sky was looking gray.  I paid and we headed for home (originally, we had considered doing some other running in Brownsville, but decided against that).

Coming back, conditions were different: a crosswind of 15 to 20 mph made the ride uncomfortable.  Those concrete dividers help keep stupid drivers from crashing head-on into each other, but create crazy wind currents.  Not fun to ride in.  Then, about 10 minutes outside of our town, a light rain started.  Not enough to be a major issue, just enough for Mother Nature to laugh at the guy with all the armor gear riding the scooter.

Joan was following me in the CR-V.  In air conditioned comfort.  Hey, it's her birthday.  Once home, we put the scoot away and went out for a meal - lunch for her, breakfast for me.  If you know this area, you can see where we went...

The rest of the day was quiet.  Nap.  Rufus walking.  Putting the phone holder Joan got on that accessory handle on her new scoot.  Grabbing a scooter tag.
