Howl at the moon...

The January full moon occurred today at 1:21pm CST today.  So, for viewing, it would be last night or tonight.  The weather weasels were predicting solid overcast for tonight, and, so far, they are right.  I took a photo of the moon last night, as a "just in case."

Not as crisp or bright as some of the other moon photos I've posted, but there was a thin high overcast last night.  Still, you could see it through that thin layer, unlike tonight.

This is the first of 13 full moons this year and is called the Full Wolf Moon.  As usual, this name comes from Native American lore, with wolves howling more this time of year.

Those outside of North America may see a penumbral lunar eclipse during the full Moon. Specifically, the eclipse will be visible to those in Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa. It will not be visible in most of North America (with this eclipse occurring while the moon is below our horizon).
