Not Rufus; he is still a feline. A very handsome feline.
There was some discussion about "plans for the weekend." My plan: there is no plan. Other than, I plan to stay off the roads. The relatively light traffic we experienced on Wednesday and Thursday had thickened up a bunch yesterday. Tourists and locals are going to be out and about this holiday weekend... a good time for us to stay off the roads with the scoots.
Having an RV is like owning a boat: there is always something to be done. I got my morning bike (bicycle) ride in. I stopped to visit for a minute with a guy here who also has a Vespa - I've seen outside his motorhome when riding my bike, but didn't see anyone outside it until this morning. They are in a small Class C, and the Vespa is their only means of transportation when they are in an RV park. They are from the Palm Springs area, so, like us, they are enjoying this break from the heat. Not sure they (he said "we" several times, so I assume there is a significant other) are all about riding for the shear pleasure of it, like we do.
Back to the coach, Joan was enjoying some patio time in the shade; coffee and Rufus. She always asks about my ride, and I usually have something semi-interesting to report. She made us a tasty skillet breakfast. I took Ruf for a walk.
In the work-to-get-done, Joan cleaned and arranged a couple of our underneath storage areas; I delved into the world of windshield repair. On the way north, a truck pulled in front of our CR-V, giving us a couple chips in the windshield. I have done this before on other vehicles. You have to do the work in the shade, and let it cure in direct sunlight. I used a windshield sunshade to provide the shade - held in place with a selfie stick and a clamp attached to a weighted camera platform... you use what you have. The repair went well - if you look real close, you can still see a mark, but it seems to be smooth and solid on the surface.
Speaking of camera gear, I have been fussing with the Roadie remote I got for one of my 360 cameras. It worked decent for a couple tests... then, when I tried to use it for real, it didn't work. Rather than mess with it, I used my phone to control the camera; but, the buttons on the Roadie are much bigger and easier to use with gloves on (like, when you're riding a particularly good-looking Vespa). I had contacted Insta (the company that makes the camera and the remote), but they had no advice for me. I asked on an on-line forum, but the Roadie is new enough that there aren't a lot of users out there. After an hour of trying different things, I discovered that if the camera is connected to your phone (via wifi), that stops the bluetooth remote function from working. Who knew? Apparently, no one in Insta Customer Service.
This will be helpful on the scoot. IF I can keep it working.
