Trifecta!

The last time you saw me use that word was when driving a whale watch boat: it was the rare sighting of three different kinds of whales in one trip.  Usually, it was: Orca, humpback, and Minke.  Also acceptable: Orca (Southern Resident Killer Whale), Biggs Orca (aka transient Orcas), and humpback.

Today's trifecta was about activities, not whale sightings.  If you saw the previous post, you already know that we had a great walk along the beach.  This afternoon, we went out on the boat... and, the reason we go out on the boat here: some dolphin watching.  Back home, I took the scooter out to snag the current "scooter tag."  Lovely day.

Heading out on the boat, we saw a couple Great Blue Herons before we got out of our canal...

Around the west side of our island, we saw Scarlet and George (Dolphin Whisperer and owners of the Sea Life Center)...

It is rare to see them out on the same boat, without guests.  Not wanting to crowd them, they waved us over and told us there were looking for a dolphin whose tail has been entangled with fishing line.  Sadly, around the tail.  They asked us to keep an eye out (never did see that dolphin), but we had a nice visit with them, boat-to-boat.  It is a delight to watch (and hear) Scarlet interact with the dolphins; she obviously loves them, and they return that emotion.

We, too, enjoyed the interaction...

We moved into the ship channel, and watched some bow surfing with a shrimper heading in...

Then, some time with the dolphins, up close and personal...

Right under the boat...

Looking at them looking at us...

Heading towards home, and a bit more bird watching; a roseate spoonbill...

Coming back through the turning basin, a couple tugs with barges...

On the way in our canal, I pulled up the current scooter tag, just in case... it was "your scooter with a bar, and not the kind of bar that puts little umbrellas in their drinks."  Yeah, I can get that.  Once we had the boat put away, I visited with my buddy Mike who stopped by, then took the scoot out for a short ride and to get the tag...

Just doing my part to keep the game rolling.

I think the high for today was 70ยบ.  Beautiful sunshine.  Light breeze.  A spectacular autumn day in the Tropical Tip.
