Home...

It was a no-beaver day.  I did fill up the coach about 25 miles from our storage unit, so we are good to go with fuel... in case.  'Cause you never know.

We started our morning with doing all the water stuff for putting the motorhome away, and I took Rufus for a walk.  There are "free range" geese that call this RV park home.  This morning, they were hanging out in a group (gang?) near our motorhome...

When Rufus and I walked out the door, they backed off.  For a few seconds, then started coming closer.  Rufus was not sure what to think of this encroachment on his space, and decided to take a defensive posture...

I'm guessing people must feed them, because they inched their way closer.  Ruf and I continued on our walk.  Not towards them.  When we got back from our walk they were still around, but opened up a path for us as we walked towards the coach.

I put away the utilities and we hit the road.  No need to be out super early today, since it is about 5 1/2 hours to our storage unit.  Leaving the San Antonio area, there are a few rolling hills and not much cover...

Before getting to Corpus Christi, Joan asked if I had a lunch plan.  We agreed that Weinerschnitzel would be a worthwhile stop.  I found a place to park in the shopping center lot and Joan went through the drive-up.  While waiting for her, I gave Rufus lunch and started the generator to run the air conditioning... it was 83º.  Welcome back to south Texas.

South of Corpus, it is a lot of bramble either side of the road...

For those unfamiliar with that term: thorny bushes, scrub brush, cacti, and low trees - you wouldn't want to walk through that.

About 20 minutes before getting to our storage unit (instead of bringing the motorhome to our island to unload, we have gone to loading/unloading at our storage unit inland), Rufus had a poop incident.  This is very rare, but his whole hind end was a mess, and he hopped up on my lap before I knew about this crappy situation.  It wasn't pretty.  It was smelly.

Without getting into too much detail, I cleaned myself up as much as possible with Cat Wipes and Clorox Wipes, then I held him in the air while Joan took the Cat Wipes to his nether region.  That would have to do until we got home.

We swapped stuff from the motorhome into the cargo trailer, hooked the trailer behind the Equinox (it has the factory towing package), and made that last 40 mile drive to our island.  Before settling in, Joan put Ruf in her bathroom and we got stuff loaded into the house.  Then, the big furry boy got a soapy bath.  He smells fresh and looks fluffy.  He was a good boy and didn't make a fuss while getting the bath.

We will take some time to get settled back in and make sure everything is in its place.  But, for now, it feels good to be home.  Smells good, too.
