Lying bast...

Yeah, the weather has been bitter cold.  For here.   "It's pretty mild compared to what's happening in the frozen northland."  I agree.  Still, when it gets to or below freezing, it becomes "a situation" here.  We all depend on weather forecasts to have some idea of what to expect.  I have come to expect our local weather weasels will be lyin' bastards.  Our local NBC affiliate takes the cake.

I may have said here that they "rerun" weather on Saturdays and Sundays for the local breaks during the NBC Saturday and Sunday Today Shows.  "Rerun?" you ask.  Yes.  Really.  They don't just play something from the night before, they pull something from months ago.  It is beyond stupid.

It is 33º this morning.  If it plays out the way the forecasts are predicting, we may get into the 40s today.  This is what the local NBC affiliate put on during the Today Show this morning...

I am not rerunning photos.  You can see some of the Christmas decorations in our house.  Look close at that weather station at the lower left on the bottom photo - yep, it is 33º outside.  I could understand if they reran a human interest story, but you shouldn't just pull out a weather forecast from a month ago and say, "That should be close enough."

Yep, lyin' bastards.  They should get coal in their stockings.  Even better: let the reindeer crap in their stockings so they get a "special treat" when they reach in.

Our weather app is currently reporting wind at “1 mph gusting to 3 mph”. So fierce. We immediately thought of you when we saw that, given your note of 35 gusting to 25 in past posts. It is 19 degrees now shooting for a high of 33 today and yesterday’s inch of snow has everything looking Christmasy. It might last overnight.

Congrats to Dan and Steph on the dog. We often hear of folks fostering kittens, but it would be really tough to give them back.

Right there with you, Earl, in regards to giving them back. Steph recommended a series called "Pick of the Litter" on Disney - it is about the program they are involved with. While watching it, Joan said, "That's Chelsea - from Safaris!"

Sure enough, one of the advanced trainers is a young lady named Chelsea, who was one of the naturalists on the boats at San Juan Safaris (the whale watch company we worked for). Joan remembered that Chelsea was going to work for a company that dealt with guide dogs for the blind when she left Safaris... small world.

The weasels missed the forecast again today - the warmest it got to was 36º, not even close to the 46º they said it would be.
