A couple times a year, I need my blue puffy coat. During this current cold spell is a prime example. Most often, it is when we are heading to Arizona in January. How do you feel about matching puffy coats? Fortunately, while Joan and I both have them, they are different styles and different shades of blue. And now, Rufus has his blue puffy coat...
Well, more like a small version of a horse blanket, it goes from his neck back to a few inches from his tail. Doesn't cover his mid-section. While he is a husky boy, that is a lot of belly fur hanging below the jacket. He seems to be fine with it. Not sure how much warmth it provides, but it does have fleece lining.
Yeah, it's still chilly. Better than the past 3 days, with 51º this morning. On the bright side: the wind isn't howling. We both had our puffy coats on this morning.

I suspect that the coat actually packs down that fluffy fur and is not adding any net warmth. But Rufus is self-limiting when it comes to cold and bad weather. And he still has bare paws even if wearing a coat.
Hi Earl. Rufus takes pride in his style. He likes the gray sweater Joan bought for him several years ago. He will wait patiently while Joan puts it on. The puffy coat is two Velcro straps, so it goes on fast and easy... it is made for a dog, so there may have to be some "engineering" to get a better fit. In the meantime, if it is cold enough for me to put on my puffy coat, ... well, you know. ;-) The boy has a thick natural fur coat. The only time he has really been exposed to cold/snow was when we went to pick up the motorhome last winter - while visiting my brother-in-law, John, there was snow on the ground... he walked on it with no issue. Pretty sure I was grumbling, though.
