Well, more of a social cat. Yes, talking about Rufus. On our walk this evening, he attracted more attention than usual... at least a half-dozen cars stopped, rolled down the window, and commented or asked, "How long did it take you to train him to walk on a leash?"
A lady walking her dog came around the corner - Rufus headed right towards them; he wanted to get to know this dog. Riley (the dog) was curious, but cautious as Rufus approached. The lady said she wasn't sure how he'd react - "We don't come across cats on our walks." (Not sure if she's new here or a renter, because most of the dog owners in our neighborhood have seen Rufus out on his leash.) Rufus and Riley did just fine with each other, including Rufus giving Riley a head-bump on his chest. When they were done, the lady and Riley walked away, with her saying, "That's just the cutest thing I've ever seen..."
Rufus spreads cheer wherever he goes. One guy rolled down his window and said, "Hi, Rufus!" We've come across that guy when out walking before. But, my favorite: two older ladies in a Buick stopped, rolled down the window, and one of them said, "So handsome!" Of course, I couldn't resist: I said, "Thank you! And my cat is good-looking, too!" They laughed out loud. I can spread cheer, too. ;-)
How does Rufus handle this attention? He likes people. It happens often enough that he is used to it. The boy is social. This evening was more attention than usual.
